In relation to carpal tunnel syndrome earlier in my posting, Tinel's is performed by lightly tapping (percussing for those who don't know what "tapping" means) the area over the nerve to elicit a sensation of tingling or "pins and needles" in the nerve distribution.If the patient experienced these symptoms, he/she has elicited a positive (+) Tinel's Sign.
