Like what I've promised in my earlier posting, here is the process of post natal circulation. After obstetrical clamping and cutting of the umbilical cord, circulatory system changes occur within the first 15 hours of life. This is the part where the primitive fetal circulatory system assumes the mature circulatory system with significant emergence of the mature right side and left side heart. The right side heart pumps in deoxygenated blood from the systemic circulation to the lungs and the left side heart pumps oxygenated blood to the system. For an interactive discussion click here.
